National Poetry Day

It's National Poetry Day this Thursday 9th October and the theme is work, this year. The most famous poem I know about work is the one by Larkin which talks about not letting the toad, work, squat on our lives... But I'd like to hear from poets who have written on this theme. Love it or hate it, most of us have to work and spend more of our lives in offices than anyone else in Europe, so let's hear what you think of it and I will publish it on the website!

Competition to revive dying art of poetry recital by children

I've got a new programme in the works to encourage children to learn poetry off by heart and recite it at school. I hope it will encourage lots of young people to get excited by poetry and enjoy learning it. As a child, I learned a lot of Shakespeare's sonnets and can still, if challenged, recite a few today!
