Do Not Stand at My Grave and Weep

This beautiful poem was featured in a television programme and many viewers rang in wanting to know more about it. I think it is a poem that offers some consolation for people struggling to come to terms with a loss. ©Daisy Goodwin

Do Not Stand at My Grave and Weep

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints in snow,
I am the sunlight and ripened grain.
I am the gentle Autumn rain.
When you awake in the morning hush,
I am the swift upflinging rush
of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there, I did not die.
